Our Beliefs

Basic Beliefs

Though there are many distinct and legitimate doctrines within orthodox (healthy) Christian teaching, Christian belief throughout history has rested on a few critical and unwavering truths. As a church, considering the extent of views that we believe are faithful to scripture and the story of redemption, we have decided to subscribe to a valuable early-church proverb: “In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity.”

With that being said, below are our essentials:

  • We believe in one God eternally existing as one essence and in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom is fully God, yet there is one God. (Deut. 6:4, John 1:1-3, Matt. 3:16-17, 2 Cor. 13:14)

  • We believe that God has made Himself known to the world in Jesus Christ, the Scriptures, and creation. (John 17:17, 2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:21, Heb. 1:3)

  • We believe that God created the world from nothing and governs all things at all times in all places. (Gen. 1:1, Prov. 16:4, Acts 17:24, Col. 1:16-17)

  • We believe that all humanity is created in the image of God and possesses intrinsic dignity and worth. It is in sin that humanity is separated from God and in need of a savior. (Gen. 1:26-27, Gen. 3:23-24, Rom. 3:23)

  • We believe that sin has fractured all things, leaving the world in desperate need of salvation. (Rom. 3:10, 23, 6:23, Eph. 4:18, 1 John 1:8-10, Gal. 5:16-17)

  • We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. (1 Pet. 1:18-19, Eph 2:8-9, Tit. 3:5, Eph. 4:32, Rom. 5:1)

  • We believe that the Church is the body of Christ sent into the world to shine forth The glory of God. (Jer. 31:31, 1 Cor. 12:13, Heb. 13:17, 1 Cor. 11:23-28)

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is returning to the world in the future to judge the living and the dead. (Isa. 65-66, 1 Cor. 15:24-28, 2 Thess. 1:5-10, Heb. 9:27, Rev. 20-22)
