Connect with God

Connecting with God

At Refuge, we believe the most fundamental step for any person is to connect with God. We believe that, through connecting with God, human beings are brought into their purpose and made whole. What does that mean, though? Well, we believe connecting with God means making intentional time to be with him, learn about him, speak with him, and know him. We know, that seems like a lot. However, we also hope that’s freeing to you.

Why? Because that means there’s not a specific formula you have to follow. You don’t have to fit inside of a cookie-cutter-Christian-shaped box to connect with God, because God can’t be fit into a box. His desire is to connect with you in all sorts of ways. It’s our job at Refuge to help you do that, and we take that job seriously! So, below are some of the ways we want to invite you to connect with God through our church.

CONNECT WITH GOD THROUGH GOD’S PEOPLE

We believe one of the best ways to connect with God is by connecting with his people. Therefore, we want to invite you to connect with us. How can you do that? It’s super easy! It starts at our digital connection card! Through this card, you can let us know where you are, how you’re doing, what aspects of our church you’d like more information about, and (most importantly) how we can pray for you. You can access our digital connection card by clicking connect in our menu, or by clicking the image below!

Connecting with God through God’s Word

At Refuge, we believe God moves through his word. By word, what we mean is the Bible. While we may call it by different names (word, scriptures, Bible), but we believe the words of the Bible are God’s words to his people. These words invite us into a story of love and redemption, all while showing us God’s heart and what he’s done through his Son, Jesus. Because of this, we will always encourage you to turn to scripture, and we want to help you do this. Whether through sermons, Bible apps, or devotionals, our aim is to help you connect with God through His word.

Connect with God Through God’s Ways

In the early days of the church, the people of God often referred to the Christian life as “the way.” This idea that following Jesus meant following his ways and example. While we hear that language less often today, following Jesus is no less built on following the way of Jesus. And just like those early days, the local church today is meant to help you live out the example of Jesus. At Refuge we do this through two fundamental ways, classes and serving. Each Spring, our church spends time deeply focused on helping our church learn to grow in what it means to follow Jesus through classes. These classes are about anything from marriage or parenting to spiritual practices and how to study the Bible. Check out events page for upcoming classes.

A Starting Place to Connection

This is merely a starting place on the path to connecting with God. Whether in worship, prayer, study, or community, we believe God seeks to connect with us in a variety of ways. Like any blossoming relationship, once we begin connecting with him in a few ways, we desire and realize even more ways that are available to connect with him. We deeply desire to be and continue growing as a community that connects with God.
